This unit does not show the serial we need on screen. Some Alpine radios display a short 8-digit number when you hold two presets — that is a different number from a different range, and it will not unlock this radio. The one we need is on the case.
You will needA set of release keys (flat U-shaped pins), a few pounds from Halfords or any motor factor. Do not use screwdrivers, they mark the fascia.
- 1Slide a release key into each of the slots at the corners of the radio face.
- 2Push them in until the clips let go, then draw the unit straight out.
- 3The serial is on the label on the casing. On some units it is stamped into the metal on the back, top or bottom rather than printed.
Take it off the radio, not off paperwork. The number in the handbook or on a dealer invoice is often for a different unit than the one actually fitted, and a wrong serial buys you a wrong code.
