Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your data.
Last updated: 22 August 2026
Who we are
MyRadioCode ("we", "us", "our") provides car radio unlock codes to customers in the UK via myradiocode.co.uk. For any question about this policy or your data, contact help@myradiocode.co.uk.
MyRadioCode is the data controller for the personal data described below: we decide what is collected and why. Our trading name and correspondence address are on our contact page.
Why we are allowed to hold it
UK GDPR requires us to have a lawful basis for using your data. We rely on two:
- Performance of a contract. Your serial number and email address are needed to work out your code and send it to you. Without them there is no way to deliver what you paid for.
- Legal obligation. Payment and transaction records are kept because tax and accounting law requires it, which is why those cannot simply be deleted on request.
We do not rely on consent for any of this, and we do not use your data for marketing, profiling or advertising. There is nothing to opt out of because there is nothing running.
What we collect
To deliver an unlock code and process payment, we collect:
- The radio serial number you enter into the lookup tool
- Your email address, so we can send your code as a backup and contact you if there's a problem with your order
- Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, expiry date, or CVC
- Your IP address, briefly. It is used only to count requests so that one visitor cannot flood the service, is kept for no more than 30 minutes, and is never linked to your order or your email address
We do not require an account, a name, or a postal address to use the service.
How we use it
We use your serial number to look up and generate your unlock code. We use your email address to deliver that code and to respond if you contact us about a refund or a problem with the code. We do not use your data for marketing, and we do not sell or share it with third parties beyond the processors listed below.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the services needed to run the site:
- Stripe: processes your payment. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the payment details you enter on their checkout page.
- Our email provider: delivers your code and any support correspondence to your inbox.
- Cloudflare: hosts the site and processes requests to keep it fast and secure.
- Google Fonts: serves the typeface used across the site. Loading it means your browser makes a request to Google, which receives your IP address. No cookie is set and we send nothing else.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on their own safeguards for international transfers. Their privacy policies set out the detail.
How long we keep it
In our own storage: when your code is issued we store the code, your radio's serial number and the radio type for 24 hours, so the page can show you your code and you can reload it if you close the tab. After 24 hours that record is deleted automatically. We do not store your email address ourselves.
With our payment processor: Stripe holds the record of your payment, including your email address and the serial number, under Stripe's own retention policy. That means if you lose your code later we can usually still find your order and help, so email us and we'll do our best, though we can't guarantee it indefinitely.
With our email provider: Resend processes the email containing your code in order to deliver it, and holds a delivery record.
To ask what is held or to have it deleted, email help@myradiocode.co.uk. Note that after 24 hours there is normally nothing left in our own storage to delete, and payment records held by Stripe may need to be retained for accounting purposes.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to stop processing it. Email help@myradiocode.co.uk and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies and browser storage
This site does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Stripe's checkout page may set its own cookies as part of processing your payment securely. This is covered by Stripe's privacy policy, not ours.
We do use one piece of browser storage. If you start a purchase and come back to change something, your browser holds the serial number and radio you had chosen so that you don't have to type them again. It is kept by your own browser, never sent to us as a separate record, and it is cleared as soon as it has been used or when you close the tab. Nothing about you is stored this way and it is not used to recognise you.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and change the date above.
