You will needA pair of radio release keys to suit your unit (half-moon for Gamma/Beta, U-shaped for later CD units), a few pounds from any motor factor.
  1. 1The serial is not shown on screen on any VW radio : the unit has to come out.
  2. 2Ease off any trim panel around the radio with a plastic tool.
  3. 3Slide a release key into the slot at each side until it clicks, then draw the unit straight out.
  4. 4The serial is on a label on the side or rear, starting VWZ.

Don’t force it. If it will not slide out the keys are not fully clicked in, and forcing it can break the cage behind the dashboard.
